 AMS Building Goals  

    

To ensure that all students are challenged at an appropriate level, we will provide staff with a minimum of three Professional Development opportunities that are embedded and targeted for specific roles with a focus on Response to Intervention and Differentiated Instruction   

     

To develop a more meaningful Core & More program, we will provide guidelines and resources to support Core & More intervention and extension instruction.   

      

To ensure consistent math instruction and assessment for all students, we will implement a core tier-one mathematics program in conjunction with the Mathematics Program Review Committee.     

            
 To improve collaboration and benefit all students, we will develop systematic communication processes for all stakeholders (teachers, paraprofessionals, administration, SAU, students, parents).

Scholastic Art Awards 

Congratulations to our AMS Scholastic Art Awards exhibitors!  Artworks will be exhibited at the Stockbridge Theater at Pinkerton Academy through February 4.  Gold Key recipient was Abigail Fitzgerald, The Girl with the Golden Eyes and Silver Key recipient was Sienna Langone for A Tear for Every Word:

AMS Spelling Bee Champion 

Congratulations to 8th grader Ben Reams, our 2012 AMS Spelling Bee Champion.

AMS Theater Presents: Alice in Wonderland, Jr. 

“Sixty two cast members, seventy one crew members, and numerous parent volunteers are busy preparing for the Amherst Middle School Theater Club’s production of Alice in Wonderland Jr.  This bright, bubbly musical with a cast of colorful characters will be on stage at Amherst...

Student Council: Flower Grams 
Flower Grams willl be on sale for pre-order at all lunches and before school through Thursday, Feb 9.  Prices are $1.50 each or 6 for $5.  Flower grams will be delivered on February 10th.

8th Grade Yearbook 

The Eighth Grade Yearbook committee is now accepting digital photographs of your eighth grader...

Winter Carnival, Friday Feb. 10 

There will be a winter carnival on February 10, from 2 15 4pm for all students in grades 5 8.  This event will include indoor and outdoor activities.  Outdoor fun may include a snow sculpture contest, musical snow chairs, snow

AMS Dance Friday, Feb. 10 
The next AMS dance will be sponsored by student council and will be a semi-formal optional dance. This AMS Dance is for students in grades 7 and 8 and will run from 7 to 9:30pm.  Cost for this dance is $5.  Tickets will be on sale next week before school and at lunch. Guest pass applications are available here and must be completed and returned to the office by the Wednesday prior to the dance.
