From the School Board

The Souhegan School Board would like to extend an especially warm welcome to all students, parents, staff, teachers, and administrators, both new and old. We are blessed with strong, experienced, intelligent leadership; dedicated thoughtful educators; committed support staff who all strive to address the needs and challenges of each student; supportive parents; and engaged students.

The tragic events of last year are still fresh for many of us. They have left us, as communities and places of learning, changed forever. We come into this new year with a heightened awareness of safety and security for our schools and with a renewal of our responsibility to know each child well and meet his or her individual needs. We also come with a recommitment to communication among all stakeholders – parents, students, teachers, staff, administrators, and community. If last year has taught us anything, let it be the knowledge that we are all in this together and we are all here to support one another. Communication is key to that end. Yes, we are changed, but we believe it's for the better.

We all have the responsibility and the power to touch everyone in our school communities. Miracles happen in our schools. Every day, we see our professionals dedicating themselves to knowing students well -- helping each reach his or her potential. Students deserve our commitment of time, energy, and resources. As we begin the new year, let’s continue to look forward, focus on our many successes, and be mindful of our goal to do all that is necessary to ensure that each student achieves success.

Over the summer, there have been some significant changes in the school administration, and we look forward to working with Jon Ingram, our new Principal, Gigi Klipa, our new Dean of Faculty, and Karen Malio, our new Special Education Coordinator. We also welcome Fran Harrow back to the board, and thank all the applicants who applied for the vacancy.

We wish you all much success in meeting the exciting challenges of the year ahead. If we all work together, we can make it happen.
