   SAU 39 > Special Instruction

Welcome

As Director of the Office of Special Instructional Services, I welcome you to our SAU #39 Special Instructional Services web page.

Our School Administrative Unit statement of “together with families and our community, the mission of SAU #39 is to help prepare all of our students for success in their future lives as productive citizens and life-long learners” is also the mission statement for students and families that are benefiting from special instructional services.

To the maximum extent appropriate, SAU #39 fully endorses the philosophy of inclusive education for all students.  Our programs are oriented to this philosophy and are, of course, in compliance with Federal regulations mandating education in the least restrictive environment (LRE).

Our vision for the Office of Special Instructional Services reflects the vision that our Superintendent, Dr. Michael Ananis has posted:

  1. The schools of SAU #39 are recognized for the excellent and comprehensive education they provide to learners of all abilities.
  2. Students continually progress and learn, transitioning seamlessly between schools, districts, and adult services.
  3. Collaboration, trust and respect, and a commitment to shared learning characterize the work of the faculty, staff, consultants, and parents.
  4. The schools collaborate effectively with families and other community resources to provide appropriate facilities, support and an overall balance of experiences that help all students develop.
  5. Our graduates are prepared for post secondary challenges commensurate with their academic and overall achievements, access technical educational opportunities consistent with their interests, and enter the work force or service, working toward independence and self-reliance.

Special Instructional Services are an integral part of the educational system in the districts of Amherst, Souhegan and Mont Vernon.  All teaching staff strive for collaborative effort on behalf of and in support of all students.  For further information, please access the resources listed on the web site.  I expect they will be helpful to you.
