Peter Warburton
The school board is delighted with the
selection of Peter Warburton who is currently Superintendent of Schools for SAU
#53, serving the school districts of Pembroke, Allenstown, Deerfield, Chichester and Epsom. In addition to having highly
successful experience with working with a multi-district SAU, “Mr. Warburton
brings a student-centered focus and a collaborative management style to our
school districts,” Ms. Janson stated.
“We are very impressed with Peter’s
background and qualifications as a very strong match to what the school board
here has indentified in the leadership profile,” Chris
Janson commented.
She went on to say that “we are
particularly pleased with Mr. Warburton’s track record of accomplishments and
his strength in communications, which the board felt especially important.” He
has achieved a great deal in his current assignment, some of which include a
focus of student achievement and corresponding test results, the potential
start-up of a new charter school and the strong relationships he has developed
among staff, students, parents, local officials and members of the taxpaying
community.
Prior to his current position as
superintendent, Mr. Warburton was assistant superintendent for SAU #53. Mr.
Warburton has been involved with all aspects of school leadership including:
curriculum, instruction, collective bargaining, budget development,
professional development, long-range planning and school improvement.
Additionally, he served as principal in the Barrington
School District and held assistant
principal positions in Northwood, Kingswood and Londonderry.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Warburton
taught middle school students.
Mr. Warburton has earned a Certificate
of Advanced Graduate Studies from Plymouth
State University,
a M.Ed. from the University
of New Hampshire and
a B.A. from St. Anselm College. A former Peace Corp Volunteer, Mr. Warburton is
actively involved with the Commission of the New England Association of Schools
and Colleges.
After a couple of planned visits to our school districts this spring, Peter Warburton
will commence his responsibilities as Superintendent of Schools on July 1,
2011, at which time Dr. Mary Athey Jennings will retire after five years of
dedicated service.
Chris Janson concluded by
stating, “on behalf of the SAU #39 School Board, I wish to thank the members of
the Superintendent’s Advisory Search Committee, the school staff, students and
community members who took an active role in the vetting process of the search
resulting in the selection of Peter Warburton.
